 What is Africa in Chinese Eyes?

The Perception varies. The talk will illustrate Chinese understanding of Africa in four periods, the early contact between China and Africa before Da Gama, their little knowledge about the continent with the same fate during the colonial period (1500-1950s), the period when the China took Africa as her brother and friend(1950s-1980), and the period starting from the reform (1980-present). The speaker will question whether there is a unitary view on Africa among the Chinese.
