北京大学目前正与耶鲁大学开展教学合作计划，作为合作的第一步，北京大学非洲研究中心为北大同学引进了耶鲁大学的非洲语言课程实验项目。如果成功，即考虑长期使用专业技术，进行网课教学，并互换双方学分。
本学期将开设的是“基础祖鲁语”课程。课程采取耶鲁老师同步指导和学生学习网课相结合的形式。课程完全为初学者开设，重在培养学生的日常交流能力，课程内容包括发音，问好，自我介绍等常用内容。
Currently Peking University and Yale university are launching a cooperative program. As the first step of the program, Center for African Studies has introduced a pilot project of African language courses from Yale University. If this practice achieves success, we will try to involve specialized technology to deepen online courses cooperation and grant learners with academic credit!
This semester Yale offers its “Basic Zulu” language course to Peking University. And the course would run over three weeks, with three hours of synchronous instruction and six hours of asynchronous instruction per week. The course focus on communicative competence, and it will take a complete beginner through the sounds of the language, greetings, introductions and questions and answers.
祖鲁语是祖鲁人所使用的一种语言。目前大约有九百万人使用，其中95%居住在南非共和国境内。祖鲁语是24%的南非人的母语，也是南非最大的语言。大约50%的南非人可以听懂祖鲁语(Ethnologue 2005)。在种族隔离结束后的1994年，祖鲁语成为南非的11种官方语言之一。
Introduction to Zulu language:
Zulu is the language of the Zulu people with about 10 million speakers, the vast majority (over 95%) of whom live in South Africa. Zulu is the most widely spoken home language in South Africa (24% of the population) as well as being understood by over 50% of the population. It became one of South Africa's eleven official languages in 1994.
课程初定于11月28日开始，连续授课三周。每周有三个小时的同步课时，6个小时的网课课时。同步课时的上课时间目前定于每周一和每周四的晚7:30-9:00。考虑到北大同学的需求，最终上课时间可能会做出调整。
